Thattekkad Bird Sanctuary, covering an area of 25 square kilometer , and located about 60 km from Kochi , one can take train or flight to kochi and then can take any cab to reach this place
Alternatively if you are planning to visit famous hill station which is Munnar , then Thattekkad is just 60 km from Munnar
For our Thattekkad trip we opted to stay in jewel homes , you can checkout the boad here , very cosy stay , rooms are very clean and very hospitable staff , owner is very kind and helpful , team arrange excellent guide for us to walk through us in one of the zone of Thattekkad.

another cool thing about this property is , it is located just in front of lake where you can large number of birds and walkable distance from main gate of Thattekkad bird sanctuary
in this lake we spotted Lesser Whistling Duck , Flying Duck , terns , kite , Little grebe and Heron , infront of lake there is plantation and lucky to spot malabar palm squirrel
Next day we got up early morning and joined our guide Mr. Praveen towards sanctuary
Believe me there were so many birds. and lot of confusion weather to see this bird or that bird , we have spotted heart shaped woodpecker , Hill Myna , Black Baza , malabar trogon , Sun birds , oriole , leaf birds , various barbets , minivets and many more.
